Dear Friends, Brethren and Family

During the second week of December cyclone Evan developed Northwest of Fiji then traveled to the East circling American Samoa before making landfall on Samoa with much damage. Evan then tracked Southwest crossing just West of the Northern Fiji islands before making landfall again on the Southern island on December 16-18.

It was a category 4 storm with very high winds and did much damage in the Western half were we used to live. It took out the roof of the Sugar mill, the sports stadium, the fertilizer plant, a lot of houses and most of the huge rain tress that lined the rode into Lautoka were knocked down. A state of emergency has been declared because of the wide spread damage.

I called (679 948-6879) and talked with Josua (our co-worker in Lautoka) and he said their house took severe damage with two trees (one mango and a coconut) falling on their roof and collapsing the back corner of the house. This is were the power supply came into the house as well and this then let the rain come in (over 9 inches fell) which did more damage to their belongings.

They are not expecting any electricity for 2 weeks and the water supply has just been restored.

I will be talking with the congregation here Sunday and Steven is talking with the Port Vila congregation and we will be sending funds to help Josua and Anna rebuild their house (the one that I helped build when we lived there).

I ask that you remember this family in your prayers. (Joshua, Anna and their 6 children) I understand that they lost the majority of their support (to be able to do full-time evangelism work) from overseas, New Zealand, this past year and were finding it hard before the cyclone. If you can help financially you can send funds through my US account and I can wire it to them.

PS Our container was delayed from the USA due to a hurricane and now the ship carrying the container is supposed to change ships in Lautoka, Fiji Dec 22 before sailing to Vanuatu for delivery on December 31st (which means it might get cleared through customs by the middle of January). Do we get the idea that our ship has not come in yet????????? Dah!!!
