Volume 5; No.11                                                                   NOVEMBER 1982

Dear Brethren;

Greetings in the name of the Lord

GUESS WHO IS COMING FOR THE HOLIDAYS ?
Well this newsletter will be the last from overseas for several months. As you read this we will be just departing or have already started our long trip back. Our plans for leave have had to be moved up several months due to many things. We were not due to return until May or June '83.

Terasa finishes 6th grade here in Dec. They have a grade 7-9 here but it is supervised correspondence from Australia and will cost over $3,000. for just one year. We will probably put her on correspondence from the states. We feel that she needs more US history and geography also. With this in mind we are going to put the children in half a year of school there in Joplin and see how they do. Another factor is that our passports and visas expire next Oct. If we were to try to renew them outside the country we might not be able to get back in as the government is getting tighter on missionaries coming in. As it is our present passports and visas will allow us to return before Oct. and then we can renew them from inside the country.

The next time we come back both Terasa and Jason will be on correspondence. Upon our return next year Jason already has his school fees paid-for for the rest of the year. I was able to do a little maintenance work during their recent school break.

Our plans call for us to leave Papua New Guinea Nov. 18. spend a few days in Manila and then go to Hong Kong to attend the Annual Missionary Workshop for a week. After the week in Hong Kong we are going to take a two day tour of China and then plan to be in Los Angeles Nov-30 and then on to Tulsa.

We ask for your prayers in our travels and please continue your support as we are definitely planning to return next year. Your support will enable the present programs to continue. Thank You!

JOE KU RETURNS STRONGER
Joe Ku returned this month after his sojourn back to his village. He speaks of many now searching the scriptures for the truth. He also reported that two of his brothers were baptized. Thank You for your prayers !!!!

BRUISED BIKEE
Last month I reported that we has gotten some motorbikes. I sold one of them to one of the single missionaries and the other one tried to commit suicide with me on it. I was on grass and it spun out on me bruising my left leg (nice lump for over 3 weeks). Sob ! Sob

HAIL TO THE QUEEN
Not only did it hail and rain in Goroka last month but it also hailed in Mt Hagen. The Queen (of Commonwealth) and her husband were here for a whirlwind look see of some of the country and the hail storm hit them while there were in Hagen. The rain which came was a real welcome as we are still suffering from a drought after the frost.

FROST RELIEF RELIEF
Thank you so much to Patricia Hill and George Blackmon for the funds they sent for the frost relief. We were able to buy 5/20KG bags of rice and 5/cases of tinned fish.

THANKS FOR THE BIBLE
Several months ago I received a new Bible from the New York International Bible Society which was sent by KENDRA GORELL. No address was included and so I say here THANK YOU!

COMPOSER DECOMPOSED
When Andy Scott returned from leave he shipped back and IBM composer for the use in the printing work. After several months of use if decided to retire. After trying to get someone here to fix it (what is a composer?) I finally wrote the company there in Kansas City. They sent me a repair/adjustment manual. I was able to adjust it for a season and right now it it being difficult again. I am going to try to adjust it again before I leave. It would be even better it I knew what I was doing!

GOROKA CONGREGATION
The Goroka congregation is beginning to show some signs of life again. Even though we have had more brethren fall away our numbers have begun to rise again. We are having more visitors and more children are beginning to attend our Thursday night Bible classes again.

During the months of September & October the presses have being running as I try to stock pile material for the time I am on leave. I have been working with Jab Mesa but we haven't dome enough work where he feels confident with the presses yet. We ran the following:
BOOKS:
350 Copies/ l6pp
200 copies / 36pp
200 copies/ 51pp
BIBLE SCHOOL: 990 copies
BCC: 45,500 lessons
CLASS HANDOUTS: 34,000 sheets
TRACTS: 2000 copies/ 5pp

WISH LIST COMING
As the season fastly approaches I have begun my wish list for the work here which I pray to be able to acquire while on leave. The print work is snowballing to where we feel a WORD PROCESSOR is needed to be able to product viable material. We went to a demonstration of the NBI SYSTEM 3000 WORD PROCESSOR here in country and were truly amazed at what it could do. We are now convinced that we need something along that line. The price here was only K17,000/($22,100). What I would like to do is find someone there who sells this system and get it a whole lot cheaper from there and bring it back. DO YOU KNOW ANYONE THERE WHO IS IN THE BUSINESS THAT WE CAN GET IN TOUCH WITH ??????

You can get in contact with us after Dec. 1st in Joplin Mo. (417) 624-4016 or Jeffersonville Ind. (812) 282-6272. We would like to show or slides and movies to anyone who is interested. If you want us for a special date after Jan. 1st let us know as soon as possible so we both won't be disappointed.

Your servants of the cross,

the Huffs
