July 2010 Update

July 17th

Dear Friends, Brethren and Family

Howdee from America land.

We are back
We boarded our flight back to the USA July 14th at 10:30pm. They were having a security exercise and EVERYONE had to go through a special tent where they looked in all the carry-on bags and patted us down.

When we finally got on the plane and seated (we were in the first row of sets in economy behind business class) a man came up to our seats with the same seat number as Kathy. We had been told by the check-in lady who gave us our boarding passes that we has a full row to our selves. So the man went to find a plane person who then verified that there were two people assigned to the same seat. Within 5 minutes a steward came back and ask if we would like to move up to business class - would we!!!!! - so road runner quick, before they could change their minds we moved up. (Thank you Lord!)

I mentioned in our last newsletter that we were Tabua Club(actually I said Tanoa but it is really Tabua) members of Air Pacific. It has already paid for the yearly subsription. The lap of luxury: the seats laid back like beds, better service and better food. (Not to mention that the row of seats to our left in economy had two children who were flying for the first time- lots of crying and noise! Again thank you Lord for moving us up!) We stretched out and got a good night's sleep before we landed in LA at July 14th 14:00.

About an hour before we landed one of the stewardesses stuck her head out of the curtianed area, pulled it back, talked with someone and then stuck her head again and ask,"are you the Dr Tobey Huff who writes the letters to the editor?" I said yes, and for the next 15 minutes we talked about things I had written and she said she appreciated what I had to say. It was nice to have a fan. Hopefully she will be on our flight back in October and get us moved up to business class. We could get to like that.  (Mara, I was wondering if a missionary can fly business class and still be classified a missionary?)

We cleared immigration (was told by the man "welcome home"), drug our bags outside and to the Southwest terminal where we checked the bags for the flight to Tulsa via Denver, went through all the security rig-ga-ma-row and then down to the boarding lounge. We arrived in Denver changed planes to Tulsa and arrived in Tulsa about 10:30 pm, collected our bags, rented a car and drove to a motel. Before going to bed we walked next door to Denny's where we had a midnight snack since we had not eaten since our Air Pacific breakfast.

Thursday morning we did not want to get up - but we were able to pry the eye lids open, shower and go to Denny's for breakfast. Afterwards we drove to Joplin where we will be staying with Jason and family for a few days trying to get our body clocks straightened up.

It's good to be back but we can do without the heat - we get enough of that in Fiji. My allergies have subsided getting away from the mango trees in the yard in Fiji. Our first trip to Walmart was a shock to the system but we survived without having to declare bankruptcy.

I wanted to let you know we were back safe and sound (no second opinions asked for about soundness) and have a phone.

My mobile number is (417) 529-5037

We really need your help setting up appointments to talk with congregations and people who can help us with the plan of building the Bible training school in Fiji and for additional personal support that we trying to secure.

If any of you can help with appointments or one time help financially it would be appreciated.

You can contact my son, Jason Huff or myself.
