WILLY FRANKLIN RETURNED
During July Willy Franklin returned to Goroka and held a four day meeting for
us. He spent several other days out in the village congregations in Chimbu visiting
with the churches there. During two of his meetings here in Goroka we translated
his talk but the other times he spoke in English. We had scheduled him for July
this year because we thought (our fault, we shouldn't think) the Teacher's Collage
and the Technical School would both be in session and the students could come
hear Willy. But, the week he was here the Teacher's College had send their students
out on practice teaching into the various community schools in the area and
the Technical School now is closed campus.

  CONGREGATION
We averaged over 124 per night and we had three baptisms of people who had
been taught previously. We were happy to have him back and he helped us with
  his lessons.
ATTENDANCE DECREASING
In the past year we have been slowly decreasing in numbers in attendance. We
have only one bus in operating condition now (2 last year): Thursday night-
157; Sunday AM- 84 (we don't run buses on Sunday). We are trying to encourage
the brethren who live within 6 blocks of the building to walk on Thursdays,
but so far not many do.

We have brethren who are among those affected. This is a great opportunity
for us to influence people toward the Gospel. If you can help in any way send
your monies marked "FROST RELIEF". We will buy food which can be distributed
by the missionaries in Mt Hagen. THANK YOU!
Brrrrrr IT WERE
For you who think the tropics is all palm trees and white sand, WRONG ! Here
in the Highlands we have been experiencing temperatures down in the low 50's
and upper 40's for the past several weeks. Now you know why you see fires in
  the houses all the time.
TERASA LEGS IT AROUND
The tribal fighting which kept the Primary School kids from going to Kundiawa
and competing in a track meet has died down. So the schools all got together
and met last month for the meet. The Goroka team came in second overall and
Terasa won the following ribbons 1st- 8yr old High Jump; 400M team relay; 2nd-
Triple Jump, 50M, I000M (bless her legs); 3rd-sack race, multi race(?), team
tunnelball. We are real proud of her !
